Every year, the fashion world has a multitude of looks trending for both winter and summer seasons. This article will feature three that seem to be popular as of January 2014. During Fashion week in February,  more will be created. The selected womens trends in this article is based off of popular photoshoot looks in magazines, and pop culture publications.

This year, womenswear is all about spliced silhouettes and directional styling. special techniques in design such as folding, cutting, pleating, and even sculpting shapes in fabric are trending in order to flatter the female form. Monochrome and tone on tone looks have a minimalist focus, but proportion and texture is highly emphasized in terms of form and fabric. For the  Spliced Layered trend;  women are layering soft textured fabric in order to create silhouettes that are form enhancing and creative. Another popular trend is 90’s rebel. This trend incorporates various styles in the  hip hop music era from the 1990s. This trend features masculine clothing styles with vintage logo’s  paying tribute to rap artist.  Creative revamping of vintage finds have also become popular for womens wear this season.  The current revamping trend is called the Boyfriend Jeans. Women have now opted for more loosely fitted jeans with heavily applied iridescent sequin, metallic jewelry, and lace details added to them.  Woman are creating these looks by actually taking their boyfriends or brothers old jeans and adorning them with those details mentioned.  The third womens trend that is hot in the formal wear is called Cold shoulder. This fashion trend is popular with dresses and blouses in formal wear. This  look is an updated version of the cutout off the shoulder sleeve design. Some looks are fitted, while other sleeves have a full or billowing effect. The shoulders are out and have trim in raw frayed cloth, delicate lace, pearl and/or elastic band gathered trim.  Some cuts are geometric, while others are the classic oval shoulder-out shape. Although there are many more creative fashion trends, the ones mentioned in this article will help you shop for fashion that will be highly sought after for the season.
