Make up of the season…

clarins colors of brazil

Brazil is starting to become a power house in fashion, if not already. I actually did an article on their fashion industry here. Now it seems as though the beauty market jumping on board too; Clarins Makeup line is doing a collection inspired by this beautiful country. Notice the sun burnt colors of the eye shadows and the lip balms. There is also a pink and whats interesting is that usually when you have pale or subtle colors, you throw in a dash of a bright color tone like red, orange, electric blue ect, but as you can see, there are bright tropical color with a dash of pale pink…it’s like a rule that you must have at least one opposite tone in a complete color palette. Anyway, I also love the blue in the collection, it’s Pantone color 19-4050 which is trending heavily for accessories especially purses. The eyeshadow shown above is rich and electric. I saw a trend report where they referred to that color as petrole blue. It’s just something so electric about that color, and it immediately draws the eye to it no matter how you wear it. Complementing colors, or colors that bring out the brilliance of this blue is white, fiery red, and pale pink. Ah Brazil…I will be seeing you soon for a closer look of what Brazil Fashion has to offer.

Color and home made graphics…

I’m just in the early parts of summer and I’m already loving the color schemes as much as the silhouettes for the season. So much humor and creativity is being featured in women’s wear, not just juniors. I did a post on shorts that are trending which you can read here. The looked featured above is part of the pre-fall collection for for House of Holland 2014. This look incorporates everything I’ve been saying in terms of color and DIY fashion. Notice the shorts with the machine embroidery throughout. Also I noticed the varsity jackets with the bold color are popping up everywhere. I love color so this type of styling is something I can definitely get into. The blouse underneath is quirky too, and as I’ve stated before that humor is something constant in fashion this season. Maybe next post I will do shoes… For all you shoe horses out there. It’s so much to learn, so I’ll keep you posted. :)

Fruit trending for graphic print…

When I posted the article on circle skirts, I couldn’t help but notice the giant papaya on the front of the skirt featured. As I researched further, I noticed that FRUIT have been trending in ALL industries, not just fashion. The shorts above are a great example. Cartoon renditions of fruit are also popular. It’s very 80’s to me, which just proves how fashion loops. Of course the juniors market features this trend a lot, but adults rendition is a bit more sophisticated. Sequin fabric with fruit print is ultra chic, or accessories like earrings dangling with fruit. I haven’t seen fruit shoes yet, but I’m sure they’re out there somewhere. :)

Knit wear for summer….

20140507-092516.jpg

Knitwear has always been one of the most challenging jobs to fill in fashion. That’s no surprise; it’s an art form that incorporates craftsmanship as well as innovative design skills. The person has to be VERY talented. Usually companies like their textile designers to have a graphic design background as well as fashion. This is evident in the design above. This sample is a piece created by Huafu and Jiangsu. It was featured at the SPINEXPO for A/W 2014/15. As you can see, the colors are vibrant and they meld together like butter. This is wear the taste factor plays it’s part. The knitting techniques vary, which ads texture to the overall look and feel. Incorporating knitwear to your wardrobe is always a good idea because it’s appropriate for any season. A wider knit looks great for summer, while a tighter knitted sweater with a heavier natural fiber is better for winter. I think the sample above would make a beautiful sweater. I stated in my editors letter that the mood for summer was bright and cheery with pops color. The knitwear trend analysis books I’ve reviewed also feature bright tones in red, yellow, and orange. Winter this year might not be so bad after all?

Circle skirts with bold patterns… Love it!

20140506-080522.jpg

Amongst the many trends to be featured for spring, CIRCLE SKIRTS will definitely make its mark this season. Why? Well, the circle cut is flattering to many body shapes. These skirts generally meet at the waist, then it kicks off as though there is a tiny petti-coat underneath. Some circle skirts do have layers of fabric to give it volume, but I doubt the one pictured by Stella Jean does. The picture above is just one of many beautiful styles offered in her collection for spring/summer 2014. Circle skirts in general are great for work, and looks very fetching when paired with a blazer. For a more casual fun look, pair a circle skirt with some converse tennis shoes and logo tee! I don’t know why, but the silhouette of the circle skirt is both sexy and sweet. The vintage feel of the design makes it all the more appealing. …. I can’t help it…. I hear-bye dub the CIRCLE SKIRT a Quirky Bombshell WARDROBE STAPLE!! It’s versatile, form flattering, and looks gorgeous in any color or pattern! And now I’m excited so I will be hunting for one to post in a fashion post for Chictopia really soon. Ok, gotta shop… Chow!
