Fashion is constantly changing. Whether its clothes, shoes, accessories or makeup; fashion continues to head beaming for the future…or is it? For Autumn/Winter 2013 and 2014, most of the trends seem to be going backward. Designs that have been featured on the catwalk this year emulate the 50s 60’s and even 80s style.  Inspirations taken from these eras have been combined with sweet feminine silhouettes, flirtatious dresses, ripped skirts, and heavy bold color palettes. The Flirtatious 50’s trend is all about balance. Full-circle dresses with conversational prints, combined with logo tee-shirts give this trend a more relaxed feel. Cardigans in sweet pastel color tones combined with knitted or embroidered jackets makes this trend a more formal one.  Let’s not forget the hair and makeup; lots and lots of finger waves combined with cat eyeliner and of course, super red lips. Simple accessories such as a floral scarf and cat eye sunglasses will bring the look together nicely.

Some people prefer to have an edgier look this season, that’s why currently 70’s Grunge is sweeping the catwalks. 70’s grunge can be described as having the ethereal billowing silhouette of the hippies seen at Woodstock, combined with the color palette and Goth-inspired chic of the 1990s. Neutral-toned checkered and plaid prints combined with delicate floral chiffon fabrics are a great example of the look.  Accessories like chains knit beanie hats, and “cross” accented jewelry ties this look together. As for makeup; black smoky eyeliner combined with neutral-toned lips in burgundy or beige looks sexy and daring.  This season will be filled with stylish, fun, and versatile fashions. It’s interesting to see just how creative one can get with these looks!
