Trend Forecasting: Bella Italia

CompModernItalianTheme1

This trend came to me a bit earlier than expected. This is more of a fall theme via Quirky Bombshell. I had an idea of vintage Italy. Yes, the Bella Hollywood sleek 1950’s inspired looks just speak to me. I wanted that neutral toned color palette with the pops of red, yellow and even a little meadow green. For some reason I imagined a beautiful Italian city, with a bustling night life, and the quintessential cement building you normally see in a city. There where palm trees in Rome when I went, and to me the city of Rome had a romantic feel that was undeniable. This trend can be easily achieved. The color black, red leather, blazers with sharp shoulders, dresses with fitted waists, and of course animal print! Accessories are simple too, just keep it simple with elegant black gloves, dangling geometric earrings, and black pumps (heel not too high). Ok, the heels can be a bit more sexier, but not too modern. It pretty cut and dry. As with everything, just be sure to make it you!

Styling colorful bags? Not a problem…

Sometimes fashion savvy people have trouble styling colorful accessories. This is totally understandable; everyone without any style sense was taught to match everything to everything. Usually people just stick colorful accessories with denim or black attire, but there are so many different combinations to try. Colorful accessories coordinate with colorful clothing. duh!!! I suggest reading my Quirky Bombshell Manuel of Style article on KEY items. It will give you some valuable insight on how to style items that have more than two colors. It’s all about having the guts to push the boundaries of fashion. Don’t think too much, just use pure instinct. With the right amount of balance you can pull off any look. And that’s what it’s about…balance. The designer bags above are a serious style statement, they look more like formal bags, so clothing with floral patterns are a great combination to pair with. Cobalt or “petrol blue” is definitely a seasonal color to play with; combine it with multi-colored items and really stand out. See easy? Dare to be bold!

Fashion Trend; Fruit Print

FruitsFashion
Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of fruit on clothing… Yep. I’ve seen fruit illustrations with cartoon elements, or just out right photographs. A colorful medley of fruit or just watermelon, is trending hard in Juniors wear. This “Fruit Trend” has finally crossed over to women’s ready to wear designer collections. Accessories are the most attractive with this trend. Pineapple, cherries, strawberries, and orange wedges look great as bracelets and necklaces. Sandals look  sweet with this trend. I just picked the pumps in the picture because the green apple shade pops up regularly for summer fashion. I like to add a little bit of color to everything I wear. For people who like to play it safe; sunglasses, rings, necklaces and bracelets combined with a solid colored outfit gives your look just the right amount of fun for the season. Tanks with pineapples detailed in sparkling gold sequin is casual with a hint of formality; that’s an option for anyone who wants to glam up an every day look. Fruit clutches in watermelon and citrus designs are easy to come by and versatile. First candy and ice cream prints were trending last year, now fruit? Looks like the fashion got a little health conscious? Well, whatever it is I like it!

Editors Letter: July 2014

I love summer! there is so much to see and do when the weather is warm. When it comes to fashion, there are some clothing items that are just an absolute must. Denim shorts…yes…sunglasses…of course. All of these things have the power to lift an outfit completely out of the doldrums. I plan on being very occupied this month, I am attending one or two fashion shows, and will also be posting actual videos on my channel. I love being a fashion editor more than a video editor, but for you (my readers and subscribers) I’ll be both. I plan on writing a lot more too. I’m actually planning on posting at least once a day. As I make more discoveries about fashion, I intend on sharing with you my vision and inspirations. I had the opportunity to travel to Washington and was really impressed with what I saw in terms of street fashion. Yes, the fashion savvy individuals that inhabit the streets of Washington D.C are amazingly trendy and surprisingly approachable. A trend that I saw constantly was the High-Waist denim shorts trend with sexy silhouettes and creative styling. I was also impressed with the vintage stores I visited. I found a great dress at Buffalo Exchange and then went to Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream for my favorite flavor…Chocolate fudge brownie! Well, enough about my trip, lets talk fashion! The sports trend is hitting the mainstream fashion stores hard! Who can resist wearing athletic socks and sexy pumps? Yes, it looks as though sporty socks with Nike, Adidas, Fila, or Reebok logos and any sort of feminine pumps is in high demand. The whole “Haute Athletic” vibe has been rampant throughout the fashion industry lately. Not only that, but humorous graphic patterns and best friend tees are in high demand too. Looks like the 80’s continues to reign supreme as the most iconic era of fashion. I’m not saying that just because I myself am an 80’s baby. Collections such as Saint Laurent, Moschino, and Rodarte feature dresses with that 80’s silhouette too. Speaking of 80’s inspired silhouettes; What about the Peplum? There are so many versions of the peplum blouse and dress. I love how creative some people can get when styling them. I’ve seen lace peplums with neon undergarments; which definitely mimics the Reveal and Conceal trend. I like when some peplem tops have the loops for a tiny belt, it gives any look so much versatility. I like fashion that is challenging; meaning outside the box. For some reason, I’m really into color! Busy patterns with bold bright color. I’m also loving Fuchsia Pink and Petrol Blue. Honestly, I can’t wait until I get my hands on some real designer footwear. I’m not a “Matchy Match” person. I like experimenting with different looks, or combining things that normally wouldn’t go together. I manage to pull off the most eccentric looks, but that’s only because I try. I urge women and men in everywhere to step outside their safety zone and be bold! That’s what Quirky Bombshell is all about; being fashionable and daring. This month is off to a great start!

The story behind this…

wpid-20140621_215528.jpg

So recently I went to a Fashion Show in Downtown Atlanta. I will be posting my photos from that event soon, but before I did that I wanted to post this picture. Now, I know you’re probably wondering what the story is behind this cake. Well here it is: After the show I went walking down the street right at the corner of Peachtree street and couldn’t help but take this picture. After I did, a couple eating alfresco at a restaurant close by informed me on how this mystery cake came to be. According to them, A woman was carrying the cake on a flat Tupperware or tray. Evidently she just got tired of carrying it and flipped the tray over…PLOP! A perfectly good cake completely wasted. There are people in other countries who haven’t had anything to eat in days, and here we are, in America doing this nonsense. And you know what the sad part is? There was a trash can right next to where she dropped the cake! Really? if she was tired of carrying the cake, why not PUT IT IN THE TRASH CAN! lol Anyway, I just wanted to share this little tidbit. Sure, it’s not fashion related, but this was too weird not to share.
